1995 U.S. Open Shinnecock Hills
Tiger Woods Signed Towel
$18.5K US
By early 1995, Tiger Woods was already a force in golf.
He had just won his second U.S. Amateur title in a row and as a freshman at Stanford was voted Pac-10 Player of the Year, NCAA First Team All-American, and Stanford's Male Freshman of the Year, an award encompassing all sports at the University.
Then at 19, Tiger Woods entered his first PGA Tour major, the 1995 Masters, and was the only amateur to make the cut ending up tied for 41st overall.
Only two months later he entered his second PGA major, the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills. He shot a respectable 74 in the first round, but after five holes of the second round he withdrew because of a sprained wrist injury.
Tiger signed this towel at the event. With this as his first U.S. Open performance so early in his career that he was still between U.S. Amateur and NCAA titles this towel or almost any autographed item from the 1995 Masters or U.S. Open is an exceedingly rare and valuable piece of historic Tiger Woods golf memorabilia.
The next year at the age of 20, he became the first golfer to win three consecutive U.S. Amateur titles and also won the 1996 NCAA individual golf championship.
Woods has won three U.S. Open titles. (2000,2002, 2008)
