This 1863 Broas Pie Baker Store Token was double struck by a fractured die. Most errors seen in civil war era merchant tokens involve shattered or broken dies with veins from the cracks as they struck the planchets.
This fractured die error was struck on the planchet over a misaligned die due to a second feeding of the planchet into the press almost obliterating the original die strike.
This created an ultra rare pure double fractured strike.
